Pas­sen­gers in fist fight af­ter Wal­ton car crash

Po­lice at­tended a crash on Pi­akoiti Rd near Wal­ton. The 17 year old fe­male driver was checked for al­co­hol. The two in­tox­i­cated male pas­sen­gers were in­volved in a fight with each other.

July 5

Two Es­to­nian tourists had all their pos­ses­sions taken af­ter their ve­hi­cle was bro­ken into at the Wairere Falls carpark. This in­cluded lap­tops, cell phones, back­packs full of their cloth­ing, wal­lets, cash and a pass­port. Po­lice said they find this very dis­ap­point­ing. Any­one with in­for­ma­tion or who come across any of the property should con­tact the Mata­mata po­lice.

July 6

A Wal­ton man had his li­cense sus­pended for 28 days and will ap­pear in Mor­rinsville District Court af­ter be­ing recorded driv­ing at 156km/hour in a 100 km/hr zone. Po­lice are con­cerned



of grand­par­ents pick­ing up their grand­chil­dren and the grand­chil­dren not be­ing prop­erly re­strained. Po­lice take this se­ri­ously and will be fol­low­ing up on this. Ring *555 if you come across this. Alarm sounded at Mata­mata Pri­mary School in the early hours of the morn­ing. No fire was found. The fire bri­gade said it was pos­si­ble there was a fault in the alarm sys­tem.
