Stu­dents dig into plant­ing day

Ku­ranui School stu­dents re­cently did their bit for the en­vi­ron­ment.

The Room 5 pupils paid a visit to Lake Oko­roire, which is cur­rently be­ing re­stored, late last month and planted 150 plants. The class fin­ished their day with hot chips and hot chocolates.

Prin­ci­pal Paula Hast­ings said the chil­dren en­joyed putting the Ku­ranui value of help­ing the en­vi­ron­ment into prac­tise out­side of school.

The school is also work­ing on plant­ing around the Waiomou Stream which runs be­hind the school and will be hav­ing an­other plant­ing ses­sion there next term.
