A ton for Matamata junior side
Matamata’s junior football 9th grade team, the Matamata Dragons, won their 13th consecutive league game of 13 this season.
Scoring nine in the game, the team surpassed the hundred goals mark in style.
Coach Gareth Fannin said this was a tribute to the team game they have developed this season, passing and using the flanks to get in behind the opposition.
‘‘100 goals in one season is a rare event, not repeated that often by many teams in any season.
‘‘ It’s a credit to a great bunch of energetic and eager to learn kids. The future of Matamata football is developing well,’’ he said.
