Matamata Chronicle - - News -

Local studmasters met with Hobbiton management last Thursday to voice concerns about a planned fireworks event which was subsequently cancelled.

‘‘It was purely motivated by animal welfare concerns and protecting my livelihood; we don’t want to stop people having fun,’’ Bradbury Park studmaster Casey Dando said.

He said the request was received well. Hobbiton general manager Russell Alexander declined to comment.

The private event, without fireworks, went ahead on Friday.
