Six stand for seats in Fonterra’s elections
At least six people have put their names forward to contest the elections for Fonterra’s board of directors later this year, including two from Waikato.
The board has three vacancies for this election. One was created by the retirement of Waikato director Jim van der Poel and the others by the rotational elections of directors John Monaghan and David MacLeod. Both are seeking re-election.
They will be joined on the ballot sheet by Cambridge farmer Garry Reymer.
Another Waikato local, LIC and Ballance Agrinutrients director Gray Baldwin, has put his name forward for the second time.
My Farm director, Manawatu-based Grant Rowan, also confirmed his candidacy and Canterbury farmer Leonie Guiney is also believed to have put her name forward.
Nominations for the 2014 Fonterra director elections closed late last week. A cooperative spokesman said the total number of nominees was confidential until after September 23.
Two nominations were also received for the representative of the Piako ward for the Fonterra shareholders council, meaning there will be an election between Malcolm Piggott and Andrew McGiven.
