The Pohlen Hospital Foundation Trust and the Matamata College touring sports teams have both received a funding boost.

Each group received $5000 from the Matamata Lions on November 12.

The funds were raised through the Lions fertiliser drive that took place on September 6.

Carloads of volunteers from Pohlen Hospital, Matamata College and Matamata Lions sold 650 bags of Daltons enriched compost, three tonnes of lime which was donated by Welleans, 2.5 tonnes of general fertiliser, a tonne of dolomite and a tonne of blood and bone, Lions member Trevor Potter said.

The fundraiser also raised $2000 for the Westpac rescue helicopter, he said.
