Volunteer Day

Matamata Chronicle - - News -

Matamata volunteers will this week be recognised, thanked and celebrated for their efforts and involvement.

Thousands of hours of volunteer work have been freely given by the individuals, and their contribution is acknowledged as part of International Volunteer Day, which is this Friday, December 5.

Heather Moore, general manager of Volunteering Waikato, said the contribution from volunteers in the Waikato region cannot be underestimated.

‘‘So far this year Volunteering Waikato has registered just over 2400 volunteers, and they collectively give an enormous amount of time, effort and goodwill in our communities . . . making the lives of others so much more enjoyable,’’ Moore said.

‘‘Without them, our communities simply would not work properly.’’
