Young peo­ple can ex­pect plenty of fun

The an­nual Starfish So­cial Ser­vices’ youth event, whose theme changes ev­ery year, has been named the Party in the Park this year.

The De­cem­ber 12 event is young peo­ple, aged 12 to 24.

There will be an ad­ven­ture ob­sta­cle sec­tion run­ning from 5pm till 7pm and a paint party run­ning from 7pm till 10pm at Swap Park next Fri­day.

The event will also fea­ture a tu­gof- war, an eat­ing com­pe­ti­tion, mu­sic and spot prizes through­out,-

for Drysdale said.

He said the event would have DJs this year in­stead of a band.

The DJs are To­bias Hen­der­son and Ai­dan O’Mal­ley.

The event is spon­sored by the Min­istry of Youth De­vel­op­ment, Mata­mata- Pi­ako Dis­trict Coun­cil, Starfish So­cial Ser­vices, Mata­mata Ro­tary and Mata­mata Lions.

‘‘ We are hop­ing to get more lo­cal business spon­sors for things such as spot prizes, so there will be more to come,’’ Drysdale said.
