Matamata Chronicle - - Happy New Year -

We received a large number of enquiries relating to the cost of the proposal and how it would be paid for. There will be no specific increase in your bill as a result of this project because it will be funded by existing distribution charges.

Distribution charges pay for electricity network maintenance as well as major projects such as this. Costs are spread over large customer bases to prevent price hikes for small communities.

This project will be paid for by distribution charges from customers in the region formerly supplied by the Thames Valley Power Board. This includes customers as far away as Whitianga. In turn, customers in Matamata-Piako and South Waikato help fund major upgrades outside of their districts.
