Party in the Park needs leaders

Matamata Chronicle - - News -

The annual Starfish Social Services’ youth event, Party in the Park, was unfortunately postponed.

Youth leadership member Jackson McNaughton said uncertain weather and a shortage of youth leaders were the main reasons for the postponement.

The event, which was to have been held on Friday, was about developing youth leaders and was a great learning opportunity and there was definitely room for more people to get involved, he said.

Those already involved say they want to be able to put on a successful event for young people in their community.

‘‘We’re looking for young people aged 12 to 24 to be involved, either with decision making or just on the day,’’ Jackson said.

The group will be meeting on January 7 to undertake more planning for Party in the Park.

Party in the Park is sponsored by the Ministry of Youth Development, MatamataPiako District Council, Starfish Social Services, Matamata Rotary and Matamata Lions.
