Mata­mata cou­ple Mau­reen and Robin Lind­say are not gut­ted they chose Cole­man Builders to gut and pre­pare their kitchen for ren­o­vat­ing. ‘‘They did a great job, I would not change any­thing and would rec­om­mend them to any­one,’’ Mau­reen said.

It took the build­ing crew be­tween 10-12 days to rip out the brick arch and re-line the walls and ceil­ing.

Richard also pro­vided ad­vice to tweak the plans from Mata­mata Glass and Join­ery that were in­valu­able. Mata­mata Glass and Join­ery went on to build and in­stall the kitchen once the prep work had been com­pleted by Cole­man Builders.

Mau­reen said he sug­gested mak­ing the cup­boards not reach the ceil­ing as it was so high and in­stead mak­ing a fea­ture out of them by cap­ping them with var­nished wood.

Richard was so ac­com­mo­dat­ing to the cou­ple that he even wel­comed them into his home to gain in­spi­ra­tion. ‘‘He had a mar­ble counter in his home and when I saw it I fell in love with it and used it in my kitchen. It’s some­times hard to imag­ine what it would
