Pool party a way to mark Waitangi Day

Matamata Chronicle - - News -

It was a busy day at the Morrinsville Heated Pools when they hosted a Waitangi Day pool party.

The free event was well attended with more than 300 people through the gates.

Everyone was entertained throughout the day with a free hangi, bouncy castles, and a story teller who shared the story of the Treaty of Waitangi on its 175th anniversary.

Mayor Jan Barnes said the Wai- tangi Day pool party was a wonderful opportunity for everyone to come together and celebrate the Matamata-Piako district.

The event was held in partnership between Matamata-Piako District Council and its committee Te Manawhenua Forum mo MatamataPiako.

Barnes, along with the committee’s chairperson, Te Ao Marama Maaka, welcomed and officially opened the day.
