Blinds give insulation, security

Matamata Chronicle - - Sport -

Winter is coming and with it an onslaught of cold weather so insulate your home with blinds made of unique technology, supplied by Curtain Creations.

Thermacell blinds trap the air by the window in a cell and warm it up, explains Curtain Creations owner/operators Alexis and Rob Drake.

Their Matamata business offers two types of Thermacell blinds. The translucent type is the equivalent of having four inches of a pink batt and the block-out blind is the equivalent of a five inch pink batt in the window and also provides minimal light gaps.

Both types provide great privacy and are the most cost effective blinds of their kind on the market. The Thermacell blinds can also come without cords, great for children’s safety.

Curtain Creations offer many options with motorised blinds. The preferred option is to have them hard wired or, if that’s not available, you can use Q Motion by Luxaflex. These are a unique battery operated option with a five year battery life. Both options can be controlled by a remote keypad or iPhone so without even being in the home, you can draw the blinds and know you are coming home to a warm house.

One of the benefits of motorised blinds is that they can be programmed to close before it gets dark and open in the morning which is good for security when you are away on holiday, as it gives the perception that someone is at home.

Winter is not only a cold time of year but can also be quite dreary. Thankfully Curtain Creations can make your interior bright and new with just a few colourful accessories.

Alexis says it can be as simple as buying a few cushions in interesting colours and textures and a floor rug or a lamp or reupholstering a bedroom chair, all of which Curtain Creations can do.

The couple said they transformed one client’s bedroom through a new bedspread.

The creative company stocks a huge range of designers including Designer Guild, Harlequin, Hemptech and just recently started stocking an Auckland designer’s work, Diva International.

Wallpapers are a big trend at the moment, and Curtain Creations has plenty of those in their showroom too. So if you are looking for inspiration with interior, call in and chat with the friendly team at Curtain Creations.

Rob and Alexis Drake not only sell, and install, Thermacell blinds, they also stock wallpaper, cushions, curtains, fires and can reupholster furniture.

The honeycomb construction of Thermacell blinds traps air and creates a barrier between the exterior and interior of the home.
