Students’ new look just for Kate

Matamata Chronicle - - News -

About 30 Matamata College students shaved their heads or cut off their pony tails on May 22 to raise funds for Kate Diprose, 7.

Students Ryan Allen and Alice Bird organised the event.

‘‘We had wanted to Shave for a Cure and when a friend told us about Kate we decided it would be great to give some funds to someone in the community,’’ Alice said.

The school wellness committee also ran bake sales on two separate days.

The college has raisedmore than $1000 for the Diprose family.

Broadway Hairdressers also raised money for the family; on May 14 and 15 they donated $10 from every salon service to the Diprose family. The hairdressers raised $752.

The Diproses started a givealittle page to help raise funds so they can be with Kate as much as possible while she battles leukaemia for a second time. So far 126 donors have raised $8231.

Matamata College’s head boy Connor Paki and maths teacher Andrew Kilham were just some of the people who got their heads shaved for a good cause.
