Below is a list of council facilities and services that you’ll find helpful to know.

Matamata-Piako District Council have offices in Matamata, Te Aroha and Morrinsville.
The Matamata area office can be found on the corner of Tainui and Tui streets.
Postal address for all council offices is PO Box 266, Te Aroha 3342 and the offices are open MondayFriday, 8am-5pm.

Matamata-Piako District Council has a weekly rubbish and recycling collection service for about 8000 households and businesses in the district.
If you are unsure whether the collection includes your property, phone customer services on 0800 746 467.
Your rubbish and recycling collection includes: Your black rubbish bag, which is collected weekly and should include anything that should go to landfill.
Your green bin ( glass only) is collected fortnightly and is for empty glass bottles and jars ( not broken).
Your yellow wheelie bin (all other recyclables) is also collected fortnightly and is for clean household plastic such as soft drink, milk bottles, clean tins/cans and paper and cardboard.
Use official MatamataPiako District Council refuse bags ( 20kg max per bag).
Properties that are rated for refuse will receive a voucher with their rates notice once a year entitling them to 52 rubbish bags, which can be collected from the council office.

Refuse and Recycling Transfer Stations
Mangawhero Rd, 888 5700, open Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday 10am-4pm.
Excess household rubbish ( in official MPDC refuse bags) and recycling (sorted approved recyclables) can be disposed of for free at any transfer station
Matamata Library is located on Tui St, 888 7157.
The library is closed on Sundays and public holidays.

Firth Tower and Museum
