Country star performing

Matamata Chronicle - - News -

Hamilton Country entertainer Joy Adams will be guest artist for the Matamata Country Music Club on Friday, June 19.

Joy has been actively involved in the country music scene for a number of years and is just in the process of recording her 16th album. Her repertoire is extensive. Country music will always be her first choice but she is equally comfortable belting out classic rock’n’roll hits from Brenda Lee and Connie Francis.

She also has a great love for nostalgia and comedy, so expect to hear a combination of all.

Music is her fulltime career these days and she travels extensively around New Zealand doing her own shows, as well as fitting in with concerts and festivals.

In November she will be returning to the South Island and has 17 shows and functions booked, so life for Joy is never dull.

In 1990 she was first recognised for her songwriting abilities taking out Best Country Song, Best Gospel Song, Most Promising Songwriter and then 1990 NZCMA Songwriter of the Year.

Many awards have followed and she has travelled extensively throughout Australia, Denmark, Norway and Germany where she is classed as a traditional singer and has a good loyal following.
