‘Unreal’ prize haul for winner

Matamata Chronicle - - Rural Delivery -

There were two prizes to aim for in the Rural Bachelor competition and Toby How won both.

The 29-year-old from Geraldine got the Golden Gumboot and the people’s choice award at the Fieldays, held at Mystery Creek earlier this month.

That meant an ‘‘ unreal’’ prize haul including a Suzuki quad bike, $2500 each in Swanndri and STIHL vouchers.

‘‘Better than a week at work. I wouldn’t have made that much,’’ he said.

The week included adventure

racing, tractor driving and speed dating and there was also a bit of impromptu entertainment at Hamilton’s Diggers Bar.

‘‘We got up on stage and had a along,’’ he said. ‘‘That was hilarious.’’ Their song of choice: Wagon Wheel. How had his share of random Facebook requests and said he’d ‘‘definitely met some nice girls up here’’.

But there wasn’t much time after the competition to follow up leads. He was back at work on the Monday.
