Morning tea for volunteers
Volunteers are an ‘‘amazing lot’’, according to Pohlen Hospital’s Loraine Jecentho.
At the hospital’s celebratory morning tea last week the clinical quality manager said Pohlen was fortunate to have a large number of volunteers. ‘‘From those who deliver meals on wheels to others who help with activities and companionship,’’ she said.
The morning tea was held during National Volunteer Week as a way to thank all those in the community who give time to help others.
the hospital last week were the group of around 20 Pohlen Pals.
The project was initiated earlier this year and is going from strength to strength, Jecentho said. ‘‘ You are all special and valued regardless of the amount of time you donate. It is your time and you give it up for us. A huge thank you to you all, from all the residents and staff.’’
Jecentho wanted to also thank the staff for welcoming the volunteers and the way they acknowledged the volunteers special role in helping staff care for their residents.
