Matamata College dance moves

Generation Z, which is the current generation, was the theme of the ninth annual year 11 dance night at Matamata College. The June 30 event, which is an NCEA assessment for PE, had eight PE classes competing against each other to take out the top spot. The theme was explored through a variety of ways. One class took the premise that their generation was the best generation and explored what had led to their generation by contrasting it to previous generations. Another class went next generation with a space theme and another explored their childhood. Even the teachers got up and performed their own dance called the Evolution of Teaching with dance moves to represent different things done in a school day like students asking for extensions for work and handing out achievement standards and leaving assembly in an orderly fashion. The winning class was 11.1 taught by Mr Ball.

Matamata College teachers Shannon Johnson and Wendy Davidson, perform in the Evolution of Teaching while the judges deliberated over which Year 11 PE class had won at the year 11 dance night.
