The Matamata Girl Guides are going back to basics to raise funds for their jamboree early next year.

Matamata Girl Guides are have been fundraising to send 17 girls and two parents to the Guide Jamboree in Christchurch in January 2016.

The local guiding group, which caters for girls aged 9 to 121⁄ are holding a stall at this month’s Matamata Market.

The market, at Matamata Primary on July 11, will see the girls selling pumpkin and vegetable soup, eco soaps, quilt raffle tickets and home baking.

The girls are asking for donations of vegetables from friends/family and on both of the Facebook buy- and- sell pages.

The young women are also currently running a quilt raffle which again is being advertised on the Facebook buy and sell pages.

The quilts are also being displayed in Westpac and tickets, which are $5, can be bought there.

The raffle closes on August 7, with the winner drawn on August 12.
