Students dance away the holidays
A three day Scottish country dancing camp was held in Matamata over the weekend, with Matamata’s Olivia Kneebone, 10, the only local to take part.
The Hinuera School student has been dancing for six years and said she loves it.
Olivia said the camps were great because she wasn’t the only one doing Scottish dancing and she could talk to other people who knew what they were doing.
Olivia goes to lessons once a week in Tokoroa and spent last Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Hoppiton Jam Camp learning a range of dances and attending music workshops.
Students attended the camp, held at Totara Springs and various halls around Matamata, from places as far away as Christchurch and Wellington.
