Mata­mata sergeant Graham McGurk said three tourists had a very lucky es­cape af­ter a car ac­ci­dent. The driver was us­ing a phone-based GPS sys­tem and turned right onto Puke­tutu Rd from State High­way 27 head­ing to­wards Hob­biton. They crossed the rail­way lines and didn’t look as they turned right on to Hin­uera Rd. They crashed into the side of a re­frig­er­ated truck. They drove into the side of the truck, be­tween the front and rear wheels, caus­ing the truck wheels to go over the bon­net and de­mol­ish one me­tre of the car. The tourists had no in­juries while the truck driver suf­fered mi­nor back in­juries. The tourist driver has been sum­moned to ap­pear in Mor­rinsville Dis­trict Court on charges of care-
