Dairy awards launch­ing

The 2016 Waikato Dairy In­dus­try Awards is about to kick off with a launch event aimed at ed­u­cat­ing, in­form­ing and fuelling peo­ple in­ter­ested in en­ter­ing one of the com­pe­ti­tions.

Re­gional man­ager Aaron Price said en­tries in the re­gion’s Share Farmer of the Year, Dairy Man­ager of the Year and Dairy Trainee of the Year con­tests will be re­ceived from Oc­to­ber 20.

‘‘We’re keen to see and hear what our on-farm re­searchers are work­ing on to en­sure the fu­ture sus­tain­abil­ity and prof­itabil­ity of dairy farm­ing, so are host­ing our launch event at DairyNZ’s Scott Farm,’’ Price said.

‘‘It’ll make for a re­ally in­ter­est­ing event, while past win­ners and en­trants will also share in­sights.’’

He said there have been some sig­nif­i­cant changes to the en­try cri­te­ria and con­test names in the 2016 awards.

All en­tries are ac­cepted online at www.dairyin­dus­tryawards.co.nz and will close on Novem­ber 30.
