Mata­mata Bowl­ing Club

Club Cham­pi­onship Fours have just been com­pleted. Re­sults: Ladies – 1st Round – Mavis Buchanan (skip) with Jane Bartelink, Elaine James & Beth Vosper played Rita Don­der­winkel (skip) with Ja­nine Turner, Pearl Hicks & Fran­cis Canty; with Ada Stev­er­son (skip) and Zelda Cle­ments, Co­ral Dais­ley & Jan Wills hav­ing the first bye. Re­sult win to Mavis 16 pts to Rita’s 8 pts. 2nd Round – Ada & her team played Rita & her team; re­sult win to Ada by 21 pts to Rita 14 pts = Rita and her team be­ing elim­i­nated. Mavis had the sec­ond bye. 3rd Round – Mavis played Ada, re­sult Mavis won 13 pts to Ada’s 11 pts. 4th Round & Fi­nal, af­ter an up and down game Mavis & her team won by 13 points to Ada & team 10 pts. Mavis, Jane, Elaine & Beth are the Ladies Cham­pi­ons for the 2015/16 Sea­son. Men – 1st Round – Ge­orge Theobald (skip) with Bob Squibbs, Jim Gray (first game only), Nor­man Bar­ron and Mark Pat­ter­son played Doug Caird (skip) with Ron Hanly, Tony Don­der­winkel and Stu Stev­er­son. Re­sult a win to Doug 16 pts & Ge­orge 14 pts. 2nd Round was a re­verse of the first game with Ge­orge and his team hav­ing the up­per hand and win­ning by 16 pts to Doug’s team only get­ting 7 pts. The 3rd Round & Fi­nal promised to be a thriller; Ge­orge al­most catch­ing up to Doug who got 16 pts up to half way and then stopped, Ge­orge & his team won the last few ends but only man­aged 14 pts. Doug, Ron, Tony & Stu are the Men’s Cham­pi­ons for the 2015/16 Sea­son. Club Draw was awarded third Thurs­day at lunchtime – lucky win­ners were Beth Vosper & Mark Pat­ter­son, they re­ceived New World Voucher each.

Rewa Bowl­ing Club

Men’s Open Fours Tues­day Oc­to­ber 13 started off with the usual driz­zle, but it didn’t de­ter the 16 teams who took part in the Open 4’s, spon­sored by CO­MAG. The sun ap­peared at lunchtime, but the af­ter­noon was windy.The win­ners with 3 wins and a draw; 27 ends and 48 points were B Shel­ley (S), G Mor­gan (3), A Jefferies (2) and A DeHass (L) from Hin­uera. The closely piped run­ners up also with 3.5 wins, 20 ends and 45 points were M Bradley (S), K Arthur (3), J Set­tle (2) and D Shand (L) from Mount Maun­ganui. The best drawn Rewa team were WHill (S), J Fol­lows (3), G Allen (2) and J Robb (L) with 2 wins, 17 ends and 42 points.Con­grat­u­la­tions to the win­ners, and thank you to all those who took part.
