The in­au­gu­ral Mata­mata Fes­ti­val of Cy­cling on Sun­day, Novem­ber 1 will have some­thing for all cy­cling lovers. En­try to the very first Mata­mata Fes­ti­val of Cy­cling is by gold coin, with pro­ceeds go­ing to the West­pac Res­cue He­li­copter. The event kicks off at 10am and will con­tinue through to around 3pm. Ac­tiv­i­ties and demon­stra­tions will be­gin at 10.30am. The Matalele Ladies will per­form at 12noon be­fore the grand bi­cy­cle pa­rade around the Firth Tower at 1pm. The prize draws will take place at 1.30pm be­fore the Mata­mata Brass Band be­gins at 1.45pm. The grand bi­cy­cle raf­fle draw will be held at 2pm. Give­aways and spot prizes on the day will in­clude a mas­sage voucher and bike good­ies from Bike­wise. Friends of the Tower will be sell­ing Devon­shire teas from 10am-3.30pm.

Or­gan­iser Colin Kem­plen said the first Mata­mata Fes­ti­val of Cy­cling was go­ing to be a fun, fam­ily day out. ‘‘We are en­cour­ag­ing mum, dad and the kids to cy­cle out from town to the Tower.’’

Raf­fle tick­ets, to win two youth bikes kindly do­nated by Gi­ant, re­main on sale at Mata­mata Cy­cles, Tainui Press, West­pac, Mata­mata Chron­i­cle and on the day.
