Mata­mata Bowl­ing Club

Re­cently the Club Mixed Cham­pi­onship Fours were played over one day as a tour­na­ment. Teams were Rita Don­der­winkel (skip), Tony Don­der­winkel, Nor­man Bar­ron and Joe Keys; Ada Stev­er­son (skip), Mavis Buchanan, Mark Pat­ter­son and Co­ral Dais­ley; Doug Caird (skip), Ja­nine Turner, Bob Squibbs and Pearl Hicks. Re­sults: Rita and her team had two wins, 21 ends and 35 points; Ada and her team also had two wins, 20 ends and 38 points; Doug and his team had one win, 17 ends and 29 points. Cham­pi­ons are there­fore Rita, Tony, Nor­man and Joe. Thurs­day Oc­to­ber 22 (fourth Thurs­day of the month) pro­gres­sive, prizes and BBQ. 19 bowlers and one helper turned up on a mis­er­able day with in­ter­mit­tent driz­zle and some wind, af­ter the sec­ond game a BBQ was en­joyed by all and then a third game was played. Win­ners were (skip) Ada Stev­er­son with run­nerup Mavis Buck­anan; (two) Stu Stev­er­son and r/up Mark Pat­ter­son; (lead) Beth Vosper and r/up Frances Canty.

Rewa Bowl­ing Club

The Ladies Champ Fours took place on Wed­nes­day, Oc­to­ber 21. This year the teams were drawn and be­cause there were only three teams com­pet­ing, the in­evitable bye came into play.Round 1: Glo­ria Hope (S), Mau­reen Bates (3), Mar­garet West­lake (2) and Aileen Mud­ford (L) def. Noeleen Be­govich (S), Dorothy Stub­bins (3), Dot Veal (2) and Lyn Clough (L). Dorothy Jones (S), Jo­ce­lyn Hart (3), Le­nie Van­derHulst (2) and Dale Pol­lock (L) had a bye.Round 2: Dorothy Jones def. Noeleen Be­govich. Glo­ria Hope had a bye.Round 3: Glo­ria Hope def. Dorothy Jones, leav­ing Glo­ria with two lives. The next morn­ing was wet and windy, but the ladies were able to play. Round 4: Dorothy Jones def. Glo­ria Hope, leav­ing both teams with one life. Round 5: Af­ter a good game, Dorothy Jones fi­nally def. Glo­ria Hope 15-11.Con­grat­u­la­tions to Dorothy, Jo­ce­lyn, Le­nie and Dale on win­ning the Champ Fours.
