Matamata Chronicle - - Your Paper, Your Place -

First of all, I think I need to pass on the obligatory congratulations to our All Blacks. I’m sure a large proportion of Matamata residents were up at 5am on Sunday to watch the big game. The anticipation, the nail biting, the cheering - there was all of this in my home just like many others I’m sure.

The other big event in town on Sunday was the inaugural Matamata Festival of Cycling. What a fantastic event organised by a small group of cycling enthusiasts. The day was stunning and provided the perfect backdrop to what I’m sure will become a regular on the Matamata events calendar. It was fantastic to see kids out on their bikes having such fun together. I even managed to have a go on a 3G stepper bike without falling off! I’ll be asking Santa for one that’s for sure! Congratulations must also go to the Matamata Baptist Church. They celebrated their 50th birthday on Sunday and the carpark was full. I’m sure both past and present congregation members came to celebrate with you all. Teresa
