Matamata Chronicle - - Your Paper, Your Place -

It was Saturday, while enjoying the Real Homes and Gardens Tour, that word started to spread amongst those taking part of the horror and destruction to hit Paris.

When we heard that more than 100 people had been killed in a number of areas in the French capital my heart sank.

My first thoughts, like many, were for families who will now be without their precious loved ones.

My thoughts then turned to how lucky we are to live in such a free country.

The prime minister has said New Zealand is not immune, but being so far away from Europe and the terror going on over there has to count for something, surely?

While I haven’t done a lot of travelling, I know the effects from what has occurred on the other side of the world will flow on into all parts of the world for many days and months to come.

My only hope is that the suffering on all fronts ceases.

No good can come from such brutality.
