First sod turned at Pohlen
Matamata’s Pohlen Hospital will feature a completed palliative care wing by April 2016.
The long-awaited wing got a whole lot closer on November 10 with the first sod being turned.
Pohlen Hospital Board Trust chair David Gasquoine said it was fantastic to be able to get to this point.
‘‘The community support has been humbling,’’ he said.
The project drew a number of tenders, with the contract being given to Matamata business Stanley Construction, who will then employ subcontractors.
