A shared interest in motorhomes and organs have kept a couple together for 60 years.
Bill and Audrey Jamison celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary on November 19.
The couple, who moved to Matamata 42 years ago, believe their shared interests keep them together. They enjoy travelling around in motorhomes which Bill had built for them. They also enjoy the friendships they have gained through being members of the Waikato Caravan Club and the Waikato Area of the New Zealand Motor Caravan Association, the latter of which they have gained a life membership with.
They had a celebration dinner with family on their anniversary and also celebrated it again with another dinner with their organ club friends.
The couple had become friends when they worked at the Matamata County Council. ‘‘Audrey worked in the office and of course I had to go to the office and there were two or three girls there and I picked the best one out of the group,’’ Bill said.
Their first child arrived two years after they married. Their two children, Arthur and Rosanne, now live in Australia and Hamilton.
