FROM THE EDITOR

Matamata Chronicle - - Your Paper, Your Place -

I can hear the cries now - finally Broadway will be fixed! We have all become accustomed to delicately driving over the potholes but soon, we’re told, they will be no longer. The NZTA say repairs along Broadway will start in January. For the most part, work will be done at night to reduce disruption to Matamata’s thoroughfare. Work on Firth St has already taken place and is looking better. Specific detail of the planned repairs can be found in the NZTA’s advert on page 11, but I’m sure you’ll all agree with me in saying it will surely be a happy start to 2016 with our roads finally fixed. To me, NZTA seem to be consulting better this time around. CBD businesses impacted by the works, such as the Italian restaurant, have supposedly been visited by the agency. The caregiver of our state highways has passed on information so everyone is aware of the work that will be done. They have listened when we all said patching just won’t cut the mustard any longer. And so we wait with bated breath.
