Brass band says thanks

Matamata Chronicle - - Out&about -

A huge thank you to the Matamata community for the support received by Matamata Brass throughout the year, climaxed by the 80th birthday celebrated recently.

Playing, along with Hamilton City Brass, to our own community was a highlight for the band and the response from the audience was truly rewarding. Local Memorie Brooky took up the conductor’s baton this year and has led the band in various playouts including the opening of the dairy unit at the Firth Museum, Anzac Day, Matamata Festival, National Band Championships in Rotorua, regional competition in Whakatane, Bike day at the Tower and Thomas Schweizer recently led the band at a carol event at the Tower.

It has been a very busy and successful year for the band and we are not finished yet.

We will be performing carols around town in early December so come on out to support the band.

Thinking of trying something new in your New Year’s resolutions?

What about learning a new skill! New players always welcome. We have a learners’ group ready to take you on.

Best wishes from Matamata Brass for the festive season.

Barbara Hodgkinson, President Matamata Brass
