Mata­mata Golf Club Sun­day saw the an­nual Weal­leans Christ­mas Tour­na­ment played at Mata­mata in what turned out to be very good con­di­tions af­ter early rain. A good turnout of over 100 starters found the course in ideal con­di­tions which re­flected in the scor­ing. Ladies gross win­ner was Trish McBride from Te Aroha with 82. Sh­eryll John­son with a very good 65 picked up the nett prize and Daphne Lug­ton took out the sta­ble­ford ham with 42 points. Oth­ers to pick up New World vouch­ers were Cather­ine Brown, Michelle Lid­dle, Ar­lene Joe, Sharon Dea­con, Brenda Hull and Rangi Le­abourn all the way from Kaw­erau. Mens di­vi­sion two saw Adrian Joe take out the New World ham with 82 gross, in the nett Amar­jit Ghag cleaned them out with 62 and Daryl Gibbs took the sta­ble­ford with 40 points. Other win­ners were Ken Best, Kevin McNeill, Mike Simp­son, Car­wyn Ker­ri­son, Nick Bozuwa, Fraser Hu­nia, Roger Verry, Paul Gibbs, Merv King, Bryce Mid­dle­miss, Dar­ryn Weatherly, John Moody, Gavin Opie, Mau­rice Vosper, Ian Tay­lor and round­ing out the prizes was Noah Woods. In di­vi­sion one Jack Trower con­tin­ued his re­cent fine form with a gross 73, Bryan Carnegie picked up one of the bosses hams with 65 nett and Kurt Ed­monds took out the sta­ble­ford with 41 points.
