Matamata Golf Club Sunday saw the annual Wealleans Christmas Tournament played at Matamata in what turned out to be very good conditions after early rain. A good turnout of over 100 starters found the course in ideal conditions which reflected in the scoring. Ladies gross winner was Trish McBride from Te Aroha with 82. Sheryll Johnson with a very good 65 picked up the nett prize and Daphne Lugton took out the stableford ham with 42 points. Others to pick up New World vouchers were Catherine Brown, Michelle Liddle, Arlene Joe, Sharon Deacon, Brenda Hull and Rangi Leabourn all the way from Kawerau. Mens division two saw Adrian Joe take out the New World ham with 82 gross, in the nett Amarjit Ghag cleaned them out with 62 and Daryl Gibbs took the stableford with 40 points. Other winners were Ken Best, Kevin McNeill, Mike Simpson, Carwyn Kerrison, Nick Bozuwa, Fraser Hunia, Roger Verry, Paul Gibbs, Merv King, Bryce Middlemiss, Darryn Weatherly, John Moody, Gavin Opie, Maurice Vosper, Ian Taylor and rounding out the prizes was Noah Woods. In division one Jack Trower continued his recent fine form with a gross 73, Bryan Carnegie picked up one of the bosses hams with 65 nett and Kurt Edmonds took out the stableford with 41 points.
