Buying coffee in February will support Pohlen
Purchasing a coffee from Matamata coffee shop O’del’emz next month will benefit Pohlen Hospital.
Throughout the month of February, all 29 days of it, every coffee you buy at O’del’emz will see a donation given to the town’s hospital.
Pohlen Foundation trustee Stu Koch originally came across the idea. A good friend suggested a cafe in Hamilton which picks out a charity once a month. ‘‘They said ‘why don’t you go and see them?’ But it was just taking the idea and localising it,’’ he said.
The Foundation then approached O’del’emz owner/operator Derek Farrelly, who said he was only too happy to help. Derek now hopes February will be a busy month with plenty of coffees sold. In a usual week, hundreds of coffees are usually sold at the popular cafe, he said.
Pohlen Foundation chairwoman Lady Margaret Spring said it was gratifying to know that businesses in the community know about Pohlen. ‘‘It’s nice to know that the businesses really take us to heart.’’
The promotion is open to any other businesses wanting to take part. For more information, contact Charlene at the Foundation office.
