Tower Run looming

Matamata Chronicle - - Your Paper, Your Place -

Registrations will soon be open for the popular annual J Swap Matamata Chronicle Tower Run.

The event, held this year on March 4, is a fundraiser for the Matamata Athletic Club and Matamata Harriers.

The 2016 event will see a range of trophies up for grabs covering a number of categories for both the 6.6km and 4km distance.

Tower Run organising committee member Steve Wenzlick said the Tower Run was a fun community event which was ‘‘all about families getting out there and active’’.

While there is not a team category, organisers certainly don’t want to stop people running or walking together as a group.

Putting together an event like the Tower Run takes a lot of time and effort.

‘‘Every year we get tremendous support from a wide range of people both in the community and from businesses. We couldn’t run this popular community event without all of this help,’’ Steve said.

The start and finish of the Tower Run takes place at the Karaka St entrance to the Tom Grant Dr.

The event will feature spot prizes and entries start from $5.

Registration forms will be available from the Chronicle office at 2 Tainui St from February 5 until noon on race day.
