Lynda McRae has made Matamata home after vacating the ‘‘craziness’’ of Auckland.

The new administrator at the Matamata Chronicle was excited to make the move to the Waikato township after spending the past 34 years in Auckland.

Lynda’s husband Robin has flown with the Piako Gliding Club since 1990 and they have owned a home here for the past six years. The couple decided to up sticks and relocate permanently.

Career-wise Lynda has spent many years in the cash industry, in both banking and security. She is looking forward to working as part of Matamata’s very popular local newspaper.

Lynda says the lifestyle change has been fantastic to date. ‘‘People here are just so lovely. Everywhere you go people make you feel like you’ve done them a favour by moving to their town. Everyone is just so friendly. When you’re walking or running the streets, you actually get hellos, rather than being ignored like you would in Auckland.’’

Lynda says she is looking forward to meeting the community and has already joined the Matamata Golf Club. She is enjoying exploring her new environment.
