Tickets still selling
Tickets for this Sunday’s Rotary Matamata Concert by the Lake are still available and organisers are hoping for a large uptake in the final few days of sales.
This year’s event features Kiwi songstress Jamie McDell along with her sister Tess as Dunes, jazz and blues band Kokomo, the Tim Armstrong Beatles Tribute band and local guitar wizard Bryan Rawiri.
Rotary Matamata director Lynette Stanley said ticket sales to date for this year’s event had been slower than the club hoped they would be.
‘‘We are really hoping that people are leaving it until the last few days to purchase tickets for the concert because we are still a way off reaching our target numbers,’’ Stanley said.
‘‘This is a local fundraising event with proceeds going to Starfish Social Services, Pohlen Hospital and other Rotary Matamata projects so we hope that members of our Matamata community will get in behind us.’’
Stanley said the acts would appeal to a wide range of musical tastes and people would certainly enjoy the beautiful surroundings for the show.
‘‘It will be a wonderful afternoon of entertainment,’’ she said. ‘‘We would encourage you to get a group of friends together.’’ Tickets cost $45 each. In the event of bad weather forcing a cancellation, please check out the Rotary Matamata Facebook page for cancellation details.
The event, at 162 Jondor Road, RD2, Matamata starts at 1pm on Sunday.
