Thurs­day Fe­bru­ary 4 Op­tional 3 Bowls Triples Open Tour­na­ment; Spon­sor Fairview Mo­tors Ltd fielded 12 teams in­cluded were Toko­roa (2), Pu­taruru, Rewa (2), Mor­rinsville, Hin­uera and five club teams.The day was dull with a cold wind though the sun made a pre­vi­ous ap­pear­ance late,Re­sults were Win­ner with 4 wins 22 ends & 50 points the Toko­roa team of H.Frost (skip) with B.Hew­son & M.Dobbyn. Se­cond with 3 and half wins,21 ends & 39 points Toko­roa team of J.Sav­age (skip) with A.Ber­nad & N.Ed­wards. Best Mata­mata Team with 2 wins, the team of Rita Don­der­winkel (skip) with L.Lopaz & M.Patterson. They all re­ceived meat prize (from Mata­mata Butch­ery). It was in­ter­est­ing that Ge­orge Theobald’s team with Bob Squibbs & Stu Stev­er­son had also 2 wins but were beaten by one end and one point. There were 3 raf­fles, 1st Meat Prize Toko­roa; 2nd bas­ket of good­ies to Mata­mata’s Bob Squibbs; 3rd bot­tle of wine to Mata­mata’s John Tarry. - Club Points to end of Jan­uary are Thurs­days = 1st Ada Stev­er­son 314 points; 2nd Joe Keys 301 pts;3rd Doug Caird 294 pts; and 4th Mark Patterson 287 pts. Satur­days = 1st Ada Stev­er­son 270 points, 2nd Mark Patterson 240 pts;3rd Bob Squibbs 221 pts; and 4th Ge­orge Theobald 201 pts.Next Open Spon­sored Tour­na­ment is Thurs 3rd Mar - Opt.3 bowls triples
