Awards for Matamata Powertalk
‘‘They say there is a book in everyone,’’ says Powertalk Matamata member Carolyn Hooton.
Hooton’s first attempt at a writing competition rewarded her second place for the 2016 New Zealand Region Writing Contest.
The Matamata Powertalk member of four years joined to improve her presentation skills.
Powertalk Matamata, developed from The Toastmistress, was also rewarded with major accolades at the Powertalk New Zealand conference.
The Matamata group received the President’s Rosebowl Award for setting and achieving goals and also placed second for the Membership Award.
The awards go hand in hand for Matamata Powertalk. The group’s goal was to increase membership, going from four members to 14 in two years and retaining membership.
The group is holding three short courses this month to enhance speaking, listening and presentation skills.
The courses will be one night a week over three weeks at the Union Parish, starting August 22 and cost $75.
