Subdivision needs new road name

Matamata-Piako District Council will meet today to review a request to approve a private road name for a new access way.

The access way was created from a subdivision off Peria Road in Matamata. The council will review the new road, shown in a plan as part of a report on the request, proposed by Aaron Bennett Builders Ltd.

The firm proposes the name ‘‘Oakview Lane’’ for the new road, as the development was named Oakview Estate.

The company developed six lots at the Peria Road site. The developer has given only one option as it relates directly to the development name.

The council will consider two options including approving the Oakview Lane as proposed by the developer. There is only one other Oakview Lane in New Zealand and it is in Christchurch.

Option two was that the council revoke the first option and the developer work with council staff to propose an appropriate name for approval.

But the analysis of the ‘‘preferred option one’’ showed it was ‘‘simple and avoids confusion’’ and complies with council rules for naming new roads.
