First nomination for Laser Plumbing
With forty years in the plumbing industry, Tony Wright knows how to run a successful business and it shows with his company’s first nomination in the MatamataPiako Business Awards.
Laser Plumbing has been nominated in the Gull Customer Services Awards. Wright and Miriam Harrison, the managing directors say they and their team are thrilled.
‘‘We feel proud we have done something that’s made someone want to nominate us. That’s what we strive for. It means someone’s been happy with what we have been doing and values our services.
Wright became the first craftsman gasfitter to become qualified through the Plumbers, Gasfitters and Drainlayers Board in the Matamata area.
He has accumulated knowledge and experience in all facets of plumbing, gasfitting, drain laying, roofing and heating.
He completed his apprenticeship with Mckenzie Plumbing before heading off on his OE where he worked as a plumber in London.
When he returned to New Zealand he joined Bruce Magan Ltd which later became Comag Ltd. Tony was one of the original directors/shareholders of Comag Ltd, who won the Bayleys Business Excellence award in 2015.
In 2006 Tony branched out on his own forming Wright Plumbing & Gas Ltd, and shortly afterwards joined the Laser Group franchise.
They specialise in new builds, maintenance and servicing both residential and commercial, gas heating and cookers, woodburning heating, hot water solutions, solar and roofing repairs.
In 2009 Laser Plumbing Matamata won the Laser Group Gold Award at the Fiji Conference for Outstanding Growth.
Wright says having a strong office and administration team is an important element because they are the face of the business, and he has nothing but praise for his administrators Sarah Harrison and Charlotte Waugh.
Customer service is also important for their eleven tradesmen who work in the community.
‘‘If we won it would be a very proud moment, a big honour. It would be recognition for all the hard work we put in and really help us grow our profile in the community,’’ he says.
