gum and breath mints (to avoid sweeteners)? I eat heaps of veges all day but I only have the opportunity to brush my teeth in the morning and evening. I’d like to keep my breath fresh during the day too. Thanks, Bianca.
Hi Bianca. Peppermint tea is a great alternative. It’s refreshing for the breath but is also wonderfully soothing for the digestive system. A drop of organic food grade peppermint oil is also an alternative to the aforementioned products.
Using herbs such as parsley, coriander and basil in your meals can also be cleansing for the palate – as can adding lemon juice to water.
I appreciate you’re not necessarily saying you suffer from bad breath, but causes of bad breath from a nutritional perspective can include digestive issues such as low stomach acid, malabsorption, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), uncontrolled type-2 diabetes or dry mouth (saliva has an antimicrobial effect.)
