Waikato’s womens rugby team bounced back from a heavy loss in the opening round of the Farah Palmer Cup by beating North Harbour 22-12 in Mairangi Bay on Saturday. It was the first clash between the provinces since 2000, with North Harbour making their debut in New Zealand’s newly named top division of women’s rugby. And it was Waikato who took the spoils, with Chey Reti and Teirea Te Aho touching down as first-five Tenika Willison kicked four penalties. Waikato held off North Harbour’s challenge in the second half, after they led 16-7 at the break.
