Great start to new bowling season

Matamata Chronicle - - Out & About -

With the new bowling season only days away the Hinuera Bowling Club have started with early success.

A mixed fours team skipped by Bev Corbett, Paul Casey Snr, Graeme Morgan and Paul Casey Jnr have taken out the annual Mount Maunganui Chartered Clubs tournament.

The tournament attracted 26 strong teams and was played in ideal conditions on good greens.

With Graeme Morgan leading well and with both of the Casey boys supporting him it was left to Bev Corbett to put the icing on the cake.

The team went through the tournament undefeated.

The Hinuera Bowling Club celebrates the new season with their opening day on Saturday, September 10, starting at 9am and would like to invite current and new members to attend.

A healthy working bee was held at the club during early August and the club and its grounds look smart for the new season.

Last season the club experienced one of its most successful with 11 Waikato Centre Titles and Dwayne Cameron and Debbie White gaining their Gold Stars (five centre titles).

Debbie White also captured Waikato Bowler of the Year.
