Matamata Chronicle - - Your Paper, Your Place -

Last week I attended the Matamata-Piako business awards along with reporters Rexine Hawes and Katrina Tanirau, who works at the neighbouring Piako Post title. We were amazed at the depth and quality of businesses in the district through the three main town catchments. Every business has a great story to tell, some of which we’ve highlighted in previous editions of the Chronicle. The guest speaker, Theresa Gattung, presented on her experience in business, the barriers she faced and how she overcame those hurdles to succeed. She particularly spoke about how businesses can identify their point of difference and that in this district there were many innovative people realising their potential. Theresa Gattung also spoke about her time as CEO at Telecom New Zealand and the advances in technology she witnessed. She went on to point out how important it was to engage young people, who have new and different skills, to keep a business evolving and growing.
