Matamata Chronicle - - Your Paper, Your Place -

This is the last week people will have a chance to have a major say on how the district is run for the next three years. Voting in the local government election will conclude on October 8. This is a chance to elect a group of people responsible for looking after the development of Matamata and communities of the MatamataPiako district. In Matamata, early figures show voter turnout is tracking lower than previous years, but there’s still time to turn the final result around. By now everyone would have received their voter information packs in the mail, containing information on each candidate for the Matamata-Piako District Council, as well as the Waikato District Health Board and the Waikato Regional Council. There has been some questioning around what the candidates really stand for, what their policies are and so on. This can be settled quickly. Just look the candidates up in the phone book and give them a call. A few straight questions may get the answers you’re looking for.
