Pri­mary gym­nasts ris­ing stars

Mata­mata Pri­mary gym­nas­tics stu­dents are all reach­ing for the stars fol­low­ing an out­stand­ing re­sult in re­gional gym­nas­tics.

The school re­ceived the tro­phy for the Top School and the award for School Spirit at the Waikato Re­gional Gym Sport Fes­ti­val.

Mata­mata Pri­mary School en­tered 40 stu­dents in the Pi­ako Gym Sports Fes­ti­val. Over 400 en­trants across all di­vi­sions.

From this com­pe­ti­tion, stu­dents who placed in the top eight in the fly­ers, twisters and open ju­niors divi­sion, qual­i­fied to com­pete in the Waikato Re­gional Gym Sports Fes­ti­val held on Wed­nes­day, Septem­ber 21 in Hamilton.

Par­tic­i­pat­ing from Mata­mata Pri­mary was Matilda Hickie, Jack­son Nor­ris, Ge­or­gia RoseWight­man, Heather Hills, Re­nee Purdy, Nina Trumm, Frankie Swap, Kees But­ler, Ryan Hodge, George Tar­rant, Milla Tay­lor, Blake Hornsey, Molly Hills and Madi­lyn Beat­tie. Coached by Kylie Stutt, Brian Priest and Sarah Mor­gan.

In this fes­ti­val 10 stu­dents re­ceived top six plac­ings in their di­vi­sions.

Through­out the day, each top six plac­ings re­ceived a num­ber of points for their school. The school col­lect­ing most points is awarded a top school over­all in the Waikato re­gion.

The school spirit award is given out to the school who shows sup­port to all par­tic­i­pants.
