Matamata Chronicle - - Your Paper, Your Place -

Christmas is approaching and although it is a welcomed time of the year, it also comes with problems and pressures. Many families struggle to provide for their children at any time of the year but the festive season can often compound the problem. Parents want to give their families the best memories of Christmas but budget restrictions may not make this possible. Some may opt to borrow money to get through the holiday season but end up paying for it, two-fold, in the New Year. Sometimes this can lead to even further hardship and in some cases violence or the destruction of a family unit. That’s why it’s important to seek budget advice before heading into Christmas. Other help is available, via social services. It’s worth noting Matamata College student leaders are a big part of the White-Out Walk ‘N’ Wheels event this month. The students have been working with Building Unity for a Safer Community and Starfish Social Services.
