Wins take Hin­uera to the fi­nals

It has been a fan­tas­tic fort­night for the Hin­uera Bowl­ing Club.

The club won the Waikato Men’s Premier A In­ter­club Ti­tle and the Waikato Open Women’s Triples Cham­pi­onship.

The Men’s Premier A In­ter­club team were 6 points clear af­ter the first day and kept up their strong per­for­mance by win­ning 14 out of their 18 games. The team was Gerard Slat­tery play­ing the sin­gles, Stu Set­tle and Bruce Milne play­ing the pairs, with Dwayne Cameron, Raika Gregory, Ste­fan McCar­tain and Paul Casey Jnr play­ing the fours. The club now qual­i­fies for the Na­tional In­ter­club Fi­nals to be played in Auck­land on March 3-5, 2017.

The Premier B Men’s In­ter­club team fin­ished a close fourth only 5 points from the win­ner. The Ladies’ In­ter­club have to com­plete their rained out first day on De­cem­ber 10. At the mo­ment they sit in the lead on 36 points with Te Awa­mutu and Toko­roa only 6 points be­hind.

Last week­end the Waikato Open Triples were played. Hin­uera had 3 en­tries in the Mens event and 1 in the Ladies. The Ladies faced a round robin draw due to the lack of en­tries. The triple made up of Bev Cor­bett (S), Deb­bie White (2) and Jo­ce­lyn

Holten (L) went through com­pe­ti­tion un­beaten.

Af­ter qual­i­fy­ing there were two mens teams to face post sec­tion. Dwayne Cameron’s team of Paul Casey Snr & Jnr got through to the semi fi­nals only to be beaten by a Hill­crest team.

Stu Set­tle’s com­bi­na­tion with Bruce Milne & Kevin Smith have made it through to the fi­nal af­ter beat­ing Te Kuiti in the quar­ter fi­nal and Frank­ton Rail­way in the semi fi­nal. The fi­nal is to be played at a later date.

The club will host an open tour­na­ment, spon­sored by COMAG on Thurs­day, Novem­ber 17.

The for­mat is op­tional fours and club mem­bers are re­minded to put their names on the club black­board if they are able to play.
