It’s ‘Twilight Christmas’ at the races

Matamata Chronicle - - Motoring - REXINE HAWES

The second biggest race day on the Matamata Racing Club calendar is December 14 and is used by many in the community and surrounding areas as their annual Christmas function.

Twilight Christmas at the Races is described as a great family day out to welcome in the Christmas season.

‘‘It has great family atmosphere and is the start of the Christmas festivities,’’ says Matamata Racing Club promotions manager Jaye Clark.

She says while spaces for groups are quickly filling up, there are still spaces available for small groups with mini marques and boot parties and of course people can still walk in on the day.

‘‘It’s a great night out with a festive atmosphere and full host responsibility,’’ she says.

The first race starts at 3.15pm, and the last at 7.30pm. Food will be available throughout the afternoon.

Entry is free, as is the children’s entertainment.

Jaye says a highlight from the event will be the inter-stable running races, which is always a crowd favourite, as well as a dressage display and of course a visit from Santa.

Twilight at the Races is the second biggest race day event in Matamata, next to the J Swap Contractors Matamata Breeders’ Stakes Premier Raceday, in February next year.

Twilight at the Races provides a great venue for a staff Christmas function.
